Food Court
The candidate: A somewhat skinny and fair Chinese woman with very dark purple-coloured shoulder-length hair wearing a sleeveless white shirt with two pockets and light three-quarter jeans, holding a purple leather purse in her right hand. She has a gold bracelet around her left wrist and matching gold earrings. She wore black casual heels and walked with her back really straight, with a slight sway. She seemed in her forties although she has a good complexion. Oh, and she has a sharp nose.
She carries her tray with steaming hot noodles to an empty seat and puts it down carefully. Setting her purse aside, she removes the chili and the bowl of egg noodles with fishballs from the tray. She sits down and starts digging in. She enjoyed looking at how the other diners are dressed, looking them up and down, and listening to the conversations as if people-watching as well, but I think she’s just interested in other people’s business and/or she is a super busybody.
From time to time, she adds more chili into her soup and eventually, she seemed to have put in too much as she started wiping her nose with the back of her hand. She then puts down her chopsticks and checks her pockets, probably looking for tissue which she ended up not finding. Fanning her red mouth with her hands and sniffing loudly, she seemed to be pissed off that her mouth was burning and that she couldn’t find any tissue to clean off whatever that’s on the back of her right hand as when the old cleaner(?) asked whether she could clear the bowl, she rudely replied, “Isn’t it obvious I’m not?” in Hokkien.
She tries to finish her food but fails miserably with a red face, only to go off like a rocket with a purse in hand, in the direction of the drink stall.
KFC
The candidate: A plump and somewhat fair Chinese woman with long wavy black hair reaching half her back wearing purple-coloured spectacles with lens that were quite thick. She wore a brown shirt with a picture of ants crawling into the mouth of an anteater that’s underground holding a “Home!” sign above the ground pointing in the direction of its own mouth and jeans, carrying a grey Converse sling bag on one shoulder that seem pretty heavy. She wore Rubi slippers and almost no accessories, only simple flower earrings. She seemed really tired and dragged her feet a bit as she walked in, holding a thick book in her hand. She seem to be in her early-twenties and a University student, with some blemishes and acne here and there on her face.
Carrying a tray with a Zinger meal on it, she makes her way to a table in the corner. Immediately, she reaches for the book she stuffed into her bag in a hurry before and opens it to a page with a crumpled tissue she probably used as a bookmark of sorts. With it open, she puts it face-down on the table and opens her burger box. She then takes the top bun off and starts picking out the lettuce. When she was finally done, she puts the bun back on and then tears away the chunks of chicken that was protruding out of the burger, putting them aside and probably leaving them for later.
She picks up her book with her right hand, and the burger with her left, and starts munching on it. Occasionally, she takes a sip of her Mountain Dew and looks at her surroundings briefly. When she was done with the burger, she starts tearing tiny bits out of the “extra” chicken chunks, slowly devouring it. She took about 12 minutes to finish them, which makes it about 31 minutes for her to finish her Zinger completely.
Finally, she placed her book down on the table and picks up the mashed potato. Taking the cover off ever so quickly, she then licks the underside of it clean of mashed potato sauce. Looking at and observing the kids lining up to wash their hands at the sink, she finished it in about 2 minutes, only to reach for her book again.
Too engrossed in the book and its story, she didn’t realise there was a bit of mayonnaise at the side of her mouth as she puts her bag on her shoulder and leaves.
Good observations – I’d like to have seen more about why you thought she was doing what she was doing. Good job though, on the descriptions!
